AWARDS FOCUS ON INDUSTRIES' CAPABILITIES
The third biennial international Stainless Steel Awards programme managed by Sassda will focus international attention on local industry's capability.
According to Sassda (Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association) executive director, Dr Oliver Damm, the awards programme is an established international benchmark of excellence in stainless steel.
"As with the previous awards, the aims and objectives of the awards programme are to reward critical aspects of excellence in the stainless steel industry. They have been designed to promote excellence by stimulating creativity, competitiveness and productivity."
The awards cover 14 categories, sponsored by both national and international players in the industry.
Damm says that as a result of the programme becoming truly international the local industry, including both companies and individuals, will be able to benchmark themselves against the world's finest.
"The awards programme aims to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial development, heighten awareness of stainless steel at all levels and enhance the image of South Africa in the international arena," added Damm.
"It
promotes the properties of stainless steel and encourages new product
and business developments thereby increasing the application of stainless
steel."
Damm urged companies to enter soon, as the deadline of 26th July 2002 is
rapidly approaching.
