STAINLESS STEEL IS FOCUS OF ONE-DAY WORKSHOP FOR ARCHITECTS, DESIGNERS AND SPECIFIERS
(Washington, D.C. and Toronto, Canada) - The Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA) and the Nickel Development Institute (NiDI) announced today the 1999 schedule for their workshops for architects and others interested in learning about innovative and cost-effective applications for stainless steel in the building and construction industry.
"Stainless Steel for Architectural Applications" is being offered in Toronto, on September 13 and 14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre; Chicago, on September 15 at the Hotel Inter-Continental Chicago; and Minneapolis, on September 16 at the Minneapolis Hilton and Towers.
The workshop, which runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., covers basic selection, aesthetic, design, and maintenance considerations for using stainless steels. A broad range of domestic and international architectural and constructional applications are illustrated during the workshop, along with the advantages and limitations of stainless.
The presenters are metallurgists and industrial marketing professionals with considerable experience in using stainless steel in the building industry. SSINA/NiDI is a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The course is approved by the AIA for 14 learning units at a two level quality with 7 health safety and welfare hours applicable toward the AIA's annual requirement of 8 hours. The workshop has also been approved by the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA). OAA members who attend will receive 10 points from the OAA through the self-directed part of its program.
The workshop is highly interactive and questions are encouraged. Participants receive a literature package with additional technical information, design ideas, and a directory of stainless steel product suppliers. Continental breakfast, coffee break refreshments and lunch will be served.
A non-refundable fee of $75.00 in local currency will be charged to each registrant. Registrants can pay by check, Visa, or Mastercard. Payment is due before the workshop.
